Public Art Water Sculpture
Project Details
- Location: Uman, Ukraine
- Client: National Dendrological Park “Sofiyivka”
- Completion Year: 2019
- Dimensions (H × L × W): 8 m × 7 m × 2.4 m
Client’s Task
To create a landmark art object for the park and recreation area that would:
- evoke the image of a sailing vessel gliding on water;
- remain captivating both during the day and at night;
- merge artistic aesthetics with the power of engineering;
- attract tourists and become a new symbol of the park.
Our Solution
- Concept and form. A sail-shaped sculpture with dynamic lines, evoking motion and lightness.
- Lighting design. 60 light sources create a striking silhouette at night, reflecting in the water and enhancing the illusion of sails.
- Engineering. Three pumps with a total capacity of 22.5 kW circulate 255 m³ of water per hour, stabilizing the structure and infusing it with vitality.
- Foundation. A robust metal base with flotation modules ensures stability and safe operation on water.
- Process. The project was completed in just 5 months — from concept and design to installation on the reservoir.
Result
- Fluid Sails became a new symbol of Sofiyivka Park, combining the elegance of art with the energy of water.
- The sculpture fascinates around the clock: by day — a striking art object, by night — a glowing beacon.
- The installation enhanced the park’s tourist appeal and became one of its key attractions.
- Thousands of photos and social media posts turned it into a powerful cultural and PR landmark for the region.
