Task
For the Chicago showroom, we set ourselves an ambitious goal – to create a next-level kinetic installation that combines engineering precision, light and artistic design. The installation was to become the visual center of the space, a shining example of Skyform Studio technologies and a source of inspiration for guests. It was important for us that every visitor would experience an emotion of surprise and want to film her work on their phone, saving this moment and sharing it.
Our solution
We created a unique kinetic sculpture using 92 3D metal polygons.
- Each module is equipped with a kinetic winch and a specially designed lamp.
- Polygon elements are laser cut with the finest patterns that enhance the play of light and shadow.
- The weight of one module is only 800 grams, and it is assembled by hand from 24 parts.
The color scheme has become a separate accent:
- We chose a copper shade that looks sophisticated against the black ceiling.
- This color is not flashy, but gives the composition depth and the feeling of expensive material.
For the project, a new type of lamp was created – with a powerful luminous flux and thoughtful heat dissipation. Thanks to this, the modules look voluminous and radiant not only in the evening, but also in daylight.
Under the control of modern software, the installation performs a synchronized aerial ballet : smooth transformations and constantly changing figures.
We developed three unique scenarios of 2, 5 and 15 minutes to adapt the sculpture’s performance to different occasions and moods.
Thus, “Space Ballet” has become a living work of art, where movement, light and geometry are combined in a single rhythm.
Result
Kinetic installation “Space Ballet” has become a symbol of the Skyform Studio showroom and a new landmark in contemporary lighting art.
- She instantly attracts attention and does not leave any viewer indifferent.
- Everyone who sees her work instinctively reaches for their phone to capture and share the moment.
- The installation confirms Skyform Studio’s status as a creator of next-generation kinetic solutions that combine technology and art.
