Architectural accent and point of attraction
“Butterfly” is a signature interactive light-and-sound installation for shopping malls, designed as a magnet for families and a striking architectural accent within the space. Two wings form a large-scale, instantly recognizable silhouette approximately 7 meters wide, composed of 34 matte-white acrylic columns Ø150 mm (17+17). Opaque matte acrylic provides a deep, even glow with no visible light sources — the light feels like a “living material”: soft, refined, and visually seamless. At the center of the composition is a butterfly body sculpture made of polished stainless steel, approximately ~1.1 m high.
Intuitive interactivity
Interactivity is built around an elegant and intuitive gesture: sensors located beneath each column respond to the approach of a hand and trigger smooth light waves, gradients, and a “wing-flap” effect across the wings. Powerful integrated luminaires enable any color palette and lighting scenarios — from delicate pastel transitions to vivid festive compositions — adaptable to seasons, mall events, and tenants’ visual concepts.
Light supplemented by sound
Light is enhanced with sound, creating the impression of a truly “alive” object. Each interaction is accompanied by unique sounds and melodic phrases, shaping a light musical atmosphere and amplifying emotional engagement. When several guests interact simultaneously, “Butterfly” becomes a finely tuned collective experience: individual gestures merge into a shared light-and-sound choreography — always different and never repeating.
Two operating modes
For a shopping mall, “Butterfly” is not merely décor, but a tool for creating a premium visitor experience: a recognizable symbol of the location, a photogenic stage for content, and a natural point of attraction for family leisure. The installation can operate in two modes:
- Interactive mode — real-time response to visitors (light + sound).
- Show mode — pre-programmed spectacular sequences that run regularly and draw audiences around the object.
