Interactive Light Sculpture for Contemporary Public Spaces
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Magic Tree is a large-scale interactive light sculpture created for modern public environments. Combining expressive design, premium materials, artistic illumination, and touch-responsive technology, the installation transforms ordinary spaces into memorable destinations.
During the day, the object appears as an elegant sculptural landmark integrated into its surroundings. After dark, it becomes a luminous artwork that creates a sense of wonder, attracts visitors, and serves as a distinctive focal point for photography and social interaction.
More than a decorative installation, Magic Tree is designed to encourage emotional engagement between people and public space.
DESIGN AND MATERIALS
The installation consists of an illuminated trunk, a decorative stainless-steel canopy, and illuminated ornamental elements.
Key components include:
- a matte polycarbonate trunk with integrated internal lighting;
- a structural stainless-steel framework;
- stainless-steel branches;
- colored acrylic leaves and decorative seasonal elements;
- individually illuminated leaves;
- touch sensors integrated into the trunk;
- a programmable lighting control system.
- The illuminated trunk produces a soft, evenly diffused glow, while stainless steel provides durability and a refined architectural appearance. Acrylic elements create the impression of a radiant jewel-like canopy floating above the structure.
Together, these materials form an object that remains visually impressive both during the day and at night.
INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE
Magic Tree responds directly to human touch.
When a visitor places a hand on the trunk, a lighting animation is activated. A wave of color emerges at the point of contact, travels through the illuminated trunk, moves into the branches, and spreads across the canopy.
The effect creates the illusion that the tree awakens through human interaction.
When no visitors are present, the installation remains active in ambient mode. Gentle gradients of light continuously move through the trunk and canopy, ensuring that the sculpture maintains visual presence even without direct participation.
Available lighting scenarios may include:
Aurora Flow
Smooth color transitions inspired by the movement of the northern lights.
Touch Ripple
Interactive waves of light triggered by physical contact.
Breathing Mode
A subtle pulsing glow that creates a calm and organic visual rhythm.
Seasonal Scenes
Lighting programs adapted to different times of the year.
Synchronized Mode
Multiple trees operating together as a unified lighting composition.
SINGLE SCULPTURE OR LIGHT FOREST
Magic Tree can function either as an individual installation or as part of a larger composition consisting of multiple trees.
As a standalone object, it serves as a striking visual landmark, interactive attraction, and gathering point within public space.
When installed as a group, the experience expands dramatically. The environment becomes a luminous enchanted garden where visitors can move between sculptures, interact with different trees, and watch waves of light travel from one object to another.
A multi-tree composition enables more advanced programming possibilities, including:
- synchronized lighting performances;
- sequential light-wave effects;
- seasonal visual compositions;
- large-scale interactive scenarios spanning the entire site.
This format is particularly effective for winter festivals, holiday destinations, public parks, and immersive urban environments.
CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
Enchanted Winter Tree
The seasonal winter version features a dedicated decorative canopy inspired by ice and winter landscapes.
Key characteristics include:
- crystalline acrylic leaves;
- ice-inspired forms and textures;
- snow-themed decorative elements;
- a cool color palette featuring white, silver, blue, turquoise, violet, and aurora-inspired tones.
- This version is ideally suited for winter festivals, Christmas markets, holiday events, and seasonal public installations.
Four-Season Magic Tree
The permanent version is designed for year-round operation.
The trunk, branches, lighting system, electronics, and control equipment remain unchanged, while decorative canopy elements can be replaced to reflect different seasons.
Examples include:
Winter — icy leaves, snowflakes, and cool white-blue illumination.
Spring — pastel foliage, soft pinks and greens, and the feeling of renewal.
Summer — lush vibrant leaves and warm luminous colors.
Autumn — amber, gold, red, and copper-inspired tones.
This approach allows the installation to evolve throughout the year while continually refreshing the visual identity of the surrounding space.
PROJECT VALUE
Magic Tree is far more than a seasonal decoration.
It is an interactive public artwork that creates:
- a memorable urban landmark;
- meaningful emotional interaction with visitors;
- a highly photogenic destination;
- an inviting evening atmosphere;
- a recognizable symbol for a location;
- a powerful visual impact when installed as a group.
The installation helps transform public space into a destination where people stop, interact, take photographs, share experiences, and return again and again.
By combining art, light, technology, and participation, Magic Tree creates a unique environment that encourages curiosity, engagement, and lasting memories.
