"Water World"
interactive fountain
(public art installation)
Idea
At Skyform Studio we create public art objects from the DNA of the city – from iconic places to natural motifs. “Water World” is designed for a coastal city: water, light, steel and movement transform the square into a scene of live interaction. This is modern public art, designed for daily dialogue with citizens.
Image of the sea
The sea is the element of movement and light. The installation uses fish species from the Sea of Azov to ensure complete identity of the project. Polished silhouettes glide across the mirror surface and melt into the depths, leaving subtle traces of light. The format is an immersive art installation in the context of urban art.
Adaptation to the city
The project is scaled to the local context: the meaning can be based on a local landmark or a symbol of the area. The solution is organic for sculptures in public spaces and architectural public art programs.
Interactive
There are 10 floor buttons around the fountain. When you step on it, a light comes on in your fish. The more participants, the more dynamic the composition. When all buttons are activated, a full evening show of water, light and fog is launched – a large-scale art object that brings people together.
Design and materials
The role of the water surface is played by black granite with a thin film of water: during the day it is a mirror of the city, at night it is a dark canvas for light.
24 stainless steel fish with internal LED lighting form a luminous composition.
Technology and emotions
Scenarios range from meditative to pulsating; the launch comes from the people, so every evening is unique. The project is a proprietary solution from Skyform Studio, ready to be adapted for different sites.
Heritage
Water World is a cultural symbol of a coastal city and a reminder of caring for nature: you can talk about important things in the language of water and light.
