"Wines of Georgia"
Public art

Symbol of Georgian winemaking traditions

The Wine of Georgia fountain is a large-scale water installation designed by the studio Skyform Studio as a sculptural dedication to Georgian winemaking. The project reflects Georgia’s deep cultural and historical connection with wine, transforming public space into an expressive artistic object with a strong national character. This is not just a classic fountain – it is an architectural metaphor for centuries-old traditions, work and skill of Georgian winemakers, whose knowledge is passed on from generation to generation.

Concept and artistic image

The central composition of the fountain consists of 10 massive wine barrels , used to age the famous Georgian wine. A rich red stream of water flows from them, symbolizing wine flowing through time and uniting the past and present of Georgia. The water then cascades into 12 traditional Georgian jugs , creating the effect of flowing wine before reaching the main pool. The movement of water is structured so that the viewer feels the continuity of tradition and the living dynamics of the composition. The fountain is surrounded 16 foam jets , simulating the pouring of wine from a bottle. This element enhances the sense of movement and gives the entire structure expressiveness and rhythm.

The base of the composition is made of 1000 wine bottles located upside down. They are illuminated with special lamps, creating a soft glow reminiscent of the atmosphere of a wine cellar. This element emphasizes the scale and richness of the Georgian wine industry. The names of the oldest wineries and wine brands in Georgia are engraved on the copper plates of each barrel, thanks to which the fountain becomes not only an artistic dominant feature of the space, but also a historical monument of Georgian winemaking.

Architectural plastics

Fountain bowl diameter 11.5 meters lined with natural wood, traditionally used for making wine barrels. The metal rim accentuates the geometry of the shape and enhances constructive expressiveness.

The entire exterior design of the fountain creates the image of a giant wine barrel partially buried in Georgian soil. It is a symbol of the deeply rooted traditions and monumental, often invisible efforts of Georgian winemakers.
